PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles picked up a 6-1 boys tennis victory over rival Sequim, picking up three match wins in the third and final set to outlast the Wolves.

The Roughriders swept all three doubles matches and earned wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 singles contests.

“This match was a lot closer than the score indicates,” said coach Brian Gundersen. “We won 3 matches in the third set, which says a lot about how we competed. Give Sequim credit, they were fighting until the last shot.”

Gundersen singled out Michael Soule and Damon Gundersen as the players of the match.

“The longer the match went, the stronger they got,” said Gundersen.

Port Angeles (4-1) hosted North Mason late Wednesday and will host Chimacum on Monday.
