SEQUIM— A fatality has been reported in a two-car collision on U.S. Highway 101 near Priest Road which had fully blocked both lanes of the roadway, the state Department of Transportation said.

The wreck at 4:56 p.m. was on the westbound lane of the highway, Transportation said in an alert issued at 5 p.m. today.

State Patrol confirmed at 5:45 p.m. that at least one person died in the wreck.

The roadway was cleared by 9:02 p.m., Transportation said in an email.

An air ambulance was called, said Undersheriff Ron Cameron with the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.

Sequim police officers were assisting with traffic control, he said.
