Eight-year-old Lacie Schmitt gets help from her father, Isaac Schmitt of Port Angeles, with lifting a large pumpkin during an outing to the Sequim Pumpkin Patch west of Sequim on Saturday.

With Halloween rapidly approaching, thoughts of jack-o’-lanterns are in the minds of many youngsters on the North Olympic Peninsula.
