Woman arrested in Port Angeles after police pursuit

PORT ANGELES — Law enforcement officers have arrested a woman they say drove a car into a state Department of Corrections officer before leading police on a low-speed pursuit Tuesday afternoon.

Port Angeles Police Chief Brian Smith said DOC officers contacted Lynzi Bartholomew at Road Runner Food Mart before she struck at least one of the officers, knocking him off his feet.

“The car had enough contact that one of the DOC officers was knocked off his feet,” Smith said. “He’s OK, but that’s significant. This could have turned out a lot worse.”

He said Bartholomew then led officers on a low-speed pursuit — about 30 mph — that ended on the 200 block of South Cherry Street.

Bartholomew stopped the vehicle with several police vehicles pursuing her. Smith said because of the assault, police would not have stopped the pursuit, he said.

“We would have used a variety of tactics … whatever we needed to do,” he said.
