Serenity House deputy director named to fill top spot

PORT ANGELES — Kim Leach, deputy director of Serenity House of Clallam County, has been selected the agency’s new executive director, succeeding Kathy Wahto.
“I believe in the mission, I understand the mission, and I feel I’m in a good position to carry out the Ten Year Plan to end homelessness,” Leach said.
She is expected to take over on Monday. Wahto’s last day is today
A “very low-key” send-off party for Wahto, will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at in Serenity House’s Tempest Building, Housing Resource Center, 535 E. First St.
All are welcome, said Serenity House employees.
As Wahto’s deputy, Leach has worked with program development, children in families, corrections, drug treatment and research.
She worked for Port Angeles School District prior to becoming Serenity House’s Child Advocate in 2003.
She advanced from lead case manager for family service programs to deputy director in 2013.
She graduated cum laude from Ottawa University in Kansas.
Serenity House board president Brando Blore said Serenity House board members were pleased to hire a local person with “substantive experience with the agency and the community.”
