SPORTS: Port Angeles player leads recruits for new Peninsula College women’s soccer team

PORT ANGELES — Players from Port Angeles, California and as far away as Texas are among those who have committed to play on the inaugural Peninsula College Pirates women’s soccer team next season.
Coach Kanyon Anderson has been busy building the Pirates program.
Anderson has signed Port Angeles’ Neeya Hansen to a letter of intent.
Hansen played striker on the Roughriders team and earned All-Olympic League honorable mention.
Joining Hansen are Kristen Atkins, a soccer and track MVP from Carmichael, Calif., and Dalyn Jones, a three-year letterman from Pleasanton, Texas.
“I’m pleased with who we have,” Anderson said.
“We have a good group of strikers and two very solid goalkeepers.”
The Pirates currently have 13-16 athletes involved in the program, including a number of walk-ons.
Anderson is in Alaska this week scouting two regional tournaments.
