New partnership increases Jefferson Healthcare’s capacity for high-quality physical therapy and rehabilitation services in East Jefferson County

Patients in Port Hadlock, Chimacum and surrounding communities now have easier access to rehabilitation care close to home.

Jefferson Healthcare has expanded its rehabilitation services through a new partnership with Discovery Physical Therapy, bringing experienced physical therapist Amy-Irene Lynch, PT, and her team into the Jefferson Healthcare network.

The Port Hadlock clinic will operate as Jefferson Healthcare Discovery Rehabilitation Services, increasing the organization’s capacity to provide high-quality physical therapy and rehabilitation services in East Jefferson County.

Meet Amy-Irene Lynch, PT

Amy-Irene Lynch has served the East Jefferson County community for nearly two decades as the owner of Discovery Physical Therapy. Over the past 18 years, she has helped patients recover from injury, surgery and chronic conditions while building a trusted rehabilitation practice in Port Hadlock.

Now, Lynch and her team are joining Jefferson Healthcare while continuing to care for patients in the same familiar location.

“Joining Jefferson Healthcare allows us to expand and grow our services to better serve our community,” Lynch says. “With this partnership, we’ll be able to recruit additional staff, reduce wait times, and offer even more rehabilitation services close to home.”

For existing patients, Lynch says the experience will remain familiar.

“Our current patients will still come to the same location and see the people they know and trust,” Lynch says. “It will feel very similar, but now we’ll have the support of Jefferson Healthcare to expand what we can offer.”

Expanding access to rehabilitation in Port Hadlock

The Port Hadlock clinic expands Jefferson Healthcare’s rehabilitation offerings and makes it easier for patients to access care.

With the addition of Jefferson Healthcare Discovery Rehabilitation, patients in Port Hadlock, Chimacum, and nearby communities can receive physical therapy services closer to home, reducing travel time and increasing appointment availability.

Rehabilitation Services

At Jefferson Healthcare Discovery Rehabilitation, Lynch provides a wide range of physical therapy services designed to help patients recover mobility, reduce pain and return to the activities they enjoy.

Common rehabilitation services include:

  • Post-surgical rehabilitation for joint replacements and orthopedic procedures.

  • Sports injury rehabilitation.

  • Work injury rehabilitation to support safe return to work.

  • Vestibular and balance therapy to improve stability and reduce fall risk.

  • Pregnancy and postpartum rehabilitation. These services help patients recover from injuries, prepare for surgery, regain strength after procedures, and maintain independence in daily life.

Specialized Care: Pelvic Health Physical Therapy

In addition to general rehabilitation services, Lynch brings specialized expertise in pelvic health physical therapy, an area of care that many people are surprised to learn can be treated through physical therapy.

Pelvic health therapy can help people of all genders and ages who experience conditions such as:

  • Bladder or bowel dysfunction

  • Incontinence

  • Constipation

  • Pelvic pain

  • Postpartum recovery concerns

“We work with people of all genders and ages who are struggling with bowel and bladder dysfunction, pelvic pain, and other pelvic floor conditions,” Lynch said. “These are important functions of the body that have a major impact on quality of life, and physical therapy can often help restore that function.”

Pelvic health physical therapy focuses on strengthening and retraining the pelvic floor muscles to enhance comfort, control and overall well-being. Lynch will be presenting a free seminar on pelvic floor health on Tuesday, April 28, at 1 p.m. at the Port Ludlow Bay Club. During this seminar, she’ll provide information on how to improve pelvic floor health for everyone, regardless of age or gender. For more details, please visit jeffersonhealthcare.org.

Serving the community together

For Lynch, joining Jefferson Healthcare represents an opportunity to expand services while continuing the mission she has followed throughout her career – helping the community stay active and healthy.

“Being part of Jefferson Healthcare means we’ll be able to grow beyond what we’ve been able to do as a small business,” Lynch said. “Together, we can serve more people in our community and expand the services available to them.”
