Jefferson Healthcare hosts free March 24 educational session with tips to improve balance, strength and home safety
Falls are a leading cause of injury for older adults, however falls aren’t an inevitable part of aging.
The good news? There are many ways to reduce your risk of falling and keep moving with confidence.
On March 24, Jefferson Healthcare welcomes physical therapists Ann Armstrong and Chris Martinez, along with occupational therapist Erica Liepelt, for an informative public session focused on maintaining balance and promoting hip health.
Hosted at Port Ludlow Bay Club, the session will provide simple, practical tips to help you improve your balance, build strength, and support hip health during everyday activities such as walking, using stairs, and doing household chores. Easy changes to enhance safety at home and avoid common tripping hazards will also be discussed.
Simple ways to stay steady
Prevention starts at home and in your daily routine. Experts recommend regular movement and social exercise. Walking daily and taking exercise or balance classes can make a real difference as they develop both strength and balance.
Your home environment matters, too. Removing throw rugs, using nightlights, and installing handrails in bathrooms and stairways can reduce hazards. If needed, canes or walkers can provide extra support and confidence.
