PORT TOWNSEND – A man charged with robbing Washington Mutual Bank on St. Patrick’s Day morning spent much of the evening at a downtown pub buying rounds of drinks for himself and others with part of the $1,000 stolen loot, police say.
Daniel Lee Semingson, 35, was taken into custody at 329 Walker St., where he rents a room, at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Port Townsend Police Sgt. Ed Green said Monday.
Semingson was charged with first-degree robbery in Jefferson County Superior Court, said Juelie Dalzell, Jefferson County prosecuting attorney.
Most of the $1,000 taken from the bank at 419 Kearney St., soon after it opened at about 9 a.m. Saturday, was recovered from Semingson’s room, Green said.
Police also found seven draft forms of a robbery note, Green said.
He said the bank robber had walked up to a bank teller and placed a note on the counter.
