PORT ANGELES — A 1,600-passenger Holland America Line Inc. cruise ship, MS Ryndam, will make a scheduled stop here in May 2006.
Holland America received such positive comments after its MS Zaandam visited last year that the company decided to return, Tino Salud, general manager of cruise services for the Port of Seattle, revealed to the Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce on Monday.
“Those positive comments made a statement. The comments had a big impact on the company,” he said.
Salud addressed the chamber membership about the region’s cruise ship industry during its weekly Monday luncheon at the Port Angeles CrabHouse Restaurant.
The Port of Seattle is lining up ports of call for its cruise ships in 2007, and it is “definitely interested” in Port Angeles, Salud said.
He is working with North Olympic Peninsula tourism officials to put Port Angeles and the Northwest on the cruise ship map, Salud said.
