CHIMACUM — A yurt in the 400 block of Egg and I Road in Chimacum was destroyed by fire this afternoon.
No one was injured. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
Just after 3:20 p.m., a firefighter at the East Jefferson Fire Rescue station in Chimacum noticed a plume of black smoke.
According to Bill Beezley of East Jefferson Fire Rescue, the yurt was being rented by two people. Since the fire completely destroyed the structure, American Red Cross services were offered.
Beezley said the two people declined the services, saying they had a “tight knit group of friends to take care of them.”
