SEQUIM –– There’s a new man on the block at Carrie Blake Park.
Donning a yellow ball cap and an orange vest until the end of summer will be David Kolbo.
“It’s not the most fashionable gear, but it’ll get me noticed,” Kolbo said.
Kolbo has moved his mobile home to the park, north of the dog park at the east end, and began his summer volunteer job as the new park host/docent for the city.
The city’s parks and recreation board decided in January that it should have somebody on-site to answer questions from guests and keep an eye on the place after dark.
The City Council approved the position in March.
Kolbo will not be busting wrongdoers but will relay issues to city staff as they arise, said Jeff Edwards, city parks superintendent.
“If there is something we need to know about, we’ll have him there to keep an eye out and let us know,” Edwards said.
Prior to his move into Carrie Blake Park, Kolbo was the park host at Gilgal RV Park in Sequim.
He plans to return there in September.
