McDermott to be guest on panel for Womxn’s Yakfest

PORT ANGELES — Local author Kate McDermott will be a guest panelist on Womxn’s YakFest at 5:26 p.m. Monday.

McDermott is the author of several books on pie-making including“Art of the Pie: A Practical Guide to Homemade Crusts, Fillings, and Life” and “Pie Camp: The Skills You Need to Make Any Pie You Want.”

Other panelist include Cheryl Alexander, a conservation photographer; Vi Mundy, an elder with the Ucluelet First Nation; Lisa Mendis, an illustrator and graphic artist; and mother-daughter novelists Perri Procino and Amanda DiZazzo.

The monthly discussion series is moderated by YakFest founder and host Jacqueline Carmichael.

Carmicheal is the author of “Heard Amid the Guns: True Stories from the Western Front 1914-1918”, “Tweets from the Trenches” and “My Read-Aloud Tales about Social Distancing.”

Yakfest is “part book club, part girls’ night out —all awesome” according to its website.
