Two septics classes set in April for Sequim
SEQUIM — Clallam County Health and Human Services’ Environmental Health Section is offering a Septics 101-Septics Maintenance and a Septics 201-Do-It-Yourself Septic Inspection class in April.
For those wanting to learn more about septic maintenance, Septics 101 is a free class providing homeowners with an overview of septic system maintenance.
It will be held at Dungeness River Audubon Center at Railroad Bridge Park, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road, on Wednesday, April 8, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
As an alternate to the class, there is an online version available at www.clallam.net/Septics101.
For those interested in becoming certified to inspect a personal septic system, the Septics 201 class provides homeowners an overview of safely inspecting a septic system and includes an instructional video, a brief demonstration and a short exam.
Not all septic systems are eligible for homeowner inspection, and systems located in the Marine Recovery Area (between Bagley Creek watershed and east to the county boundary) must first be inspected by a licensed septic inspector.
The Septics 201 class will be held at the Dungeness River Audubon Center on Wednesday, April 22, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Pre-registration is required for all classes and is available at www.clallam.net under “Online Services” or by contacting Environmental Health at 360-417-2506.
Before registering for the 201 class, visit www.clallam.net/septic, click on Summary of Septic System Inspection Requirements, and check eligibility.
An online Septics 201 course is also available at www.clallam.net/Septics201DIY.
