QUILCENE: Selected schools leader expects to sign contract in coming weeks

QUILCENE — The ink hasn’t been inscribed on the contract yet, but Quilcene Principal Judi Mackey said she will take over as school district superintendent July 1.

Mackey said contract discussions with the School Board are ongoing, but she fully expects to sign a two-year commitment in the coming weeks.

The School Board selected Mackey, 59, for the post from three finalists last month.

She is already thinking about ways to improve education by seeking private, state and federal grants to enhance learning opportunities.
