CHIMACUM: Three runaways still on the lam after a week

Three 15-year-old Chimacum Middle School girls are still on the lam a week after they ran away from home.

Port Townsend police Sgt. Robin Biffle said Friday she hopes the girls can be located by tracing a cellular telephone they are using.

However, Biffle said police have yet to determine if the telephone can be traced by electronic means.

The girls — two from Chimacum and one from Port Townsend — were last in contact with local friends a week ago, Biffle said. The girls called to tell a friend they were in Seattle, but going to an undisclosed location in California.

Biffle said the lack of a specific destination or the name of a friend or relative in Seattle has hampered the ability to locate the girls.
