WILDER BASEBALL: Flodstrom, Bradow combine for 10-inning shutout

MERCER ISLAND — The Wilder Baseball Club got an outstanding pitching performance from Bo Bradow and Ethan Flodstrom and a clutch two-run double from Brody Merritt in a 4-0 10-inning shutout on the road Sunday against I-5 Toyota.

Bradow and Flodstrom combined to give up just six hits in 10 innings. Bradow pitched the first four innings, giving up three hits and one walk while striking out three. Flodstrom pitched the final six innings, giving up three hits and walking three while striking out five.

Wilder batters only managed four hits themselves until they erupted for five hits and four runs in the 10th. Flodstrom, Johnnie Young and Bradow all hit singles to load the bases int he 10th, then Tyler Bowen knocked in the first run of the game with a sacrifice fly.

Merritt added a two-run double to give Wilder a 3-0 cushion. Gavin Guerrero added an RBI single for the final margin.

Guerrero finished the game 2 for 4, while Merritt finished 1 for 4 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Toyota managed to beat Wilder 11-3 in a second game this weekend. Young was 2 for 4 in that game, while Hayden Woods hit a double. Carson Jackson, Joel Wood and Bo Bradow all had RBIs.

Wilder nearly won two out of three on the weekend, falling 4-3 to Mudville on Sunday afternoon. Mudville scored a run in the sixth and a run in the seventh to pull the game out.

Wilder got off to a good start, scoring three runs in the first inning on a double steal pulled off by Flodstrom and Wood, and an RBI bunt by Jackson.

Young and Merritt pitched, with Young going the first four innings, giving up seven hits and two earned runs. Merritt went the the final 2 1/3 innings, giving up one earned run on three hits and two walks. He struck out two.

Wood and Flodstrom each went 1 for 3 with a run scored and a stolen base, while Jackson and Young each had RBIs.

Wilder is 3-2 on the season after this weekend.

Wilder Junior

Wilder Junior got in a wild high-scoring affair against Lakeside AA, pulling the game out 16-10 thanks to five runs in the fifth and four in the sixth.

Wilder Jr. collected 17 hits in the game with Michael Grubb going 3 for 4 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Lucas Jarnigan was 2 for 5 with a double, a run scored and four RBIs, while Tanner Lunt was 3 for 3 with two runs scored. Kamron Meadows was 2 for 3 with three runs scored and Jacob Felton was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Wyatt Hall was 1 for 2 with a run scored, a walk and two RBIs.

Wilder Jr. also had a narrow loss to Lakeside AA, falling 6-4 in a game that featured five total hits.

Wilder Jr. managed only two hits, but walked eight times Lunt and Tate Fahimer each had hits, with Lunt adding two stolen bases. Hall had two RBIs.

The Wilder Jr. trio of Mason Nickovich, Michael Grubb and Landon Seibel only gave up three hits, but they walked 12 batters.

Wilder Jr. got swept in two games by the Black Hills Bandits 11-1 and 13-2 on Saturday. Last week, they beat North Kitsap 16-1.

In the North Kitsap game, Wilder Jr. had 19 hits. They were led by Timmy Adams going 3 for 4 with four runs and an RBI and Adam Watkins, who went 4 for 4 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

Carson Ness was 2 for 3 with two runs and four RBIs and Jarnigan was 1 for 4 with three RBIs. Felton was 2 for 3 with two runs scored, while Gahimer was 2 for 2 with two runs scored. Seth Woods was 2 for 3 with a run scored and two RBIs.
