VOLLEYBALL: All-Olympic League and All-Nisqually League teams announced

Halberg and Hastings make first team for Port Angeles, Sequim

SEQUIM — Sequim and Port Angeles players were named to the 12-player Olympic League All-League Volleyball Team in voting conducted by league coaches.

Roughriders senior Lily Halberg was a first-team selection, Halberg played libero for much of the season for Port Angeles.

Wolves junior middle hitter Kendall Hastings also made the first team and sophomore teammate Jolene Vaara, also a middle, was a second-team pick for Sequim.

Hastings led the Wolves with 202 kills (10.1 per game) and 43 blocks (2.15 per game). She was second on the team with 141 assists and 37 aces (1.85), and third on the team with 121 digs (six per game).

Vaara led the team with 38 aces (1.9 per game) and was second in kills (152, 7.6 per game), blocks (30, 1.5 per game) and digs (126, 6.3 per game).

Bainbridge’s Allie Wildsmith was picked as league MVP, while teammate Florencia Olivera was named Defensive Player of the Year.

North Kitsap’s Kaelea Makaiwi was selected Coach of the Year.

Anderson honored

CHIMACUM — East Jefferson senior Akira Anderson represents the Rivals on the Nisqually League’s All-League volleyball team.

Anderson was the team’s leading hitter. She also holds a 4.0 GPA.

Cascade Christian senior Kim Tercero was selected Nisqually League MVP in voting conducted by league coaches.

Charles Wright Academy’s Rondey Kalalau was picked as Coach of the Year.

Vashon was the Team Sportsmanship Award winner.
