TRACK AND FIELD: Port Angeles’ Teanna Clark wins javelin at Bill Harris Invite

FEDERAL WAY — Fresh off her record-setting performance at a home meet last week, Port Angeles’ Teanna Clark hardly missed a beat Saturday, winning the javelin event at the Bill Harris Invitational.

Clark was the only Port Angeles athlete to win an event competing against athletes from 32 other schools, including some 3A and 4A schools. She took first with a throw of 122 feet, 1 inch, her second-best of the season, beating out 43 other competitors. Her top throw of the year, done at home Thursday at 134-2, broke a school record and is tops in the state among 2A athletes.

There were several other good performances by Port Angeles athletes. Easton Dempsey took third in the 800-meter run with a personal-best time of 1 minutes, 59.47 seconds, while Brody Pierce was fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 43-5½.

Liam Wilson was sixth in the freshman/sophomore 100-meter run in a time of 11.7 and Keatyn Hoch was ninth in the high jump with a leap of 5-6.

Both the Port Angeles boys and girls finished 21st as a team. Federal Way was the top boys team and Central Kitsap was first among the girls.
