BAINBRIDGE ISLAND — Jayson Brocklesby opened the 2012 season with 23 points but 2A Olympic League favorite Sequim fell to up-and-coming 3A Bainbridge in boys basketball action.
Joey Blacker dropped in 24 points to lead the Spartans to the 84-67 nonleague victory Tuesday night.
Brocklesby made 5-of-7 shots from 3-point range to lead the Wolves while 6-foot-4 junior Rory Kallappa swished in 20 points.
Alex Barry added 10 points to give Sequim three players in double figures.
Senior Gabe Carter, who made All-Olympic League second-team honors along with Brocklesby last year, opened the year with six points.
Bainbridge took a 40-28 lead into halftime and never looked back despite the Wolves closing the gap to 56-50 at the end of three periods.
A 28-17 fourth-quarter score ended any hope of Sequim catching Bainbridge.
The Wolves next will host Port Townsend on Friday night.

CHIMACUM — The 1A Cowboys came back from eight points down in the fourth quarter to win their season opener against the 2A Eagles.
Rafael Pagasian and Kevin Miller scored 15 points each to spark the Cowboys.
Miller had four of his team’s seven 3-pointers in the game.
Chimacum came roaring back to outscore the Eagles 19-4 in the fourth quarter after being outscored by at leas one point in the previous three periods.
Varsity newcomer Tracyn Anderson, a junior 5-foot-9 guard, scored 13 points for the Cowboys.
Josh Ganowski led the Eagles with 12 points.

QUILCENE — Crosspoint Academy of Bremerton held off the Rangers in nonleague competition Tuesday night.
Michael Cooper scored 17 points while teammate Patrick Wheeler grabbed 15 rebounds to lead Crosspoint.
Josh King and J.J. Smith led the Rangers with 11 points each.
Crosspoint used a 15-6 second quarter to take the lead and never look back.

SILVERDALE — The 2A Eagles improved to 2-0 on the year by beating the 1A Cowboys in nonleague action.
Klahowya led 25-8 at halftime and cruised to the win despite a 16-16 stalemate in the second half.
Annie Lever had eight points, six rebounds, three blocks and two steals to spark the Eagles.
Klahowya’s Sally Fletcher led everybody in scoring with 10 points.
Lauren Thacker had a team-high eight points for Chimacum.

QUILCENE — Crosspoint Academy of Bremerton had an easy night despite having only six healthy players for the game.
Crosspoint’s Grace Garguile led everybody with 15 points while Desere Doty netted 13 and freshman Kalie Nation added 11.
Nation also had a game-high 12 rebounds and Doty had eight steals.
Sammy Rae and Megan Walker led the Rangers with eight points each.
