SPOKANE — Sunshine Nilson scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Morton past Quilcene 61-42 Thursday in the consolation quarterfinals at the state Class B girls basketball tournament at the Spokane Arena.
The loss knocked the Rangers (15-11) from the tourney.
Nilson also led Morton (19-8) with seven assists, five blocked shots and two steals. Ramsey Vanessa added 13 points and three blocks.
Erin Burlingame scored 16 points for Quilcene and Kara Weed had 15 points and eight rebounds. The Rangers went 0-2 at state in their first appearance since 1989.
Morton shot 50 percent from the field, compared to 24 percent for the Rangers.
