SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Port Angeles graduate Derrick Fox had a front-row seat to the Washington Huskies playing the Baylor Bears in the 2011 Alamo Bowl on Thursday night.
He had one of the best seats in the house because he’s the President and CEO of the Alamo Bowl.
Fox, 47, has been a major part of the Alamo Bowl since its inception 19 years ago. He joined the Alamo Bowl’s first administrative team at the age of 28.
His parents are Jim and Helen Fox of Port Angeles.
“We are very proud of him,” Helen Fox said in a phone interview while the Alamo Bowl was in progress Thursday night.
“He has worked very hard. He is a hard worker and ambitious.”
Derrick Fox, graduated from Port Angeles High School at the top of his class in 1982 and went to Duke University.
At this writing, the Huskies were ahead of Baylor 49-46 in a thrilling nailbiter with 4:18 left in the third quarter.
There was supposed to be offensive fireworks in this game but Derrick Fox found himself presiding over the most exciting bowl game of the year.
