Sports: Port Angeles boys win heartbreaker in triple overtime

PORT ANGELES — After three straight do-or-die wins, the Port Angeles High School boys basketball team saw its playoffs hopes — and season — end late Friday night.

It wasn’t until the final buzzer of a triple-overtime Narrows League thriller against Gig Harbor that the Roughriders were finally eliminated from the postseason hunt.

Port Angeles fell 54-52 to Gig Harbor, but could have collapsed a lot earlier. The Riders only remained in the playoff chase by posting a three-game winning streak entering Friday’s finale.
