SPORTS: North Olympic 16U softball team starts championship tournament action today in Babe Ruth World Series

LAMAR, Colo. — The North Olympic 16U softball team opens Babe Ruth World Series championship bracket play today at 2:30 p.m. PDT.

The game against Levittown, N.Y., will be broadcast live at baberuthonline.com.

The double-elimination tournament features the top six teams in pool play. All teams will play at least through Thursday.

North Olympic, 2-2 in pool play and the National Division No. 3 seed, will go against 3-1 and No. 2 American Division seed Levittown.

This is the best a North Olympic team has done at the 16U level in the World Series since 2006 when the area squad captured fourth place in the nation.

The American Division No. 1 seed, 4-0 Wilson County, N.C., won the 14U World Series two years ago.
