Sports: Coach says she was fired by college last month

PORT ANGELES — Former Peninsula College softball coach Jill Stockdale-Holt, who ushered in the program two years ago, says she was fired by the college last month.

She broke her silence Wednesday after more than a month of refusing to comment about her sudden departure from the school, where she also worked as physical education department chair, athletic facilities manager, recreation director and an athletic academic counselor.

She is being paid the remainder of her $47,500 salary through June 30.

She says she was fired on Feb. 12 during a meeting with Athletic Director Rick Ross, Human Resources Director Bonnie Cauffman and Vice President of Student Services Maria Pe^pba.

Ross said Wednesday that he could still not talk about the coach’s departure, and Peninsula College President Thomas Keegan was out of town and unavailable for comment.
