YAKIMA — Senior Marcus Moug will take the mound today in a bid to give the Chimacum Cowboys their greatest win ever in any sport.
The Cowboys (17-4) take on Othello in the Class 2A baseball semifinals starting at 4 p.m. at Yakima County Stadium.
The winner plays the winner between defending state champion Ridgefield and Lakeside (9 Mile Falls) in the championship game Saturday at 4 p.m. in the same stadium. The two losers play at 1 p.m. at Yakima’s Parker Field in the third-place game.
No matter what happens, the Cowboys already have the best finish of any sport in Chimacum High School history. No team has finished higher than fifth in state.
The basketball team took fifth in the mid-1970s for the previous best Chimacum performance.
