SPORTS: Chimacum baseball team claims trophy

YAKIMA — The Chimacum Cowboys baseball team had no problem rebounding from a Class 1A state semifinal loss on Friday.

The Cowboys blasted Cashmere 18-4 in today’s third-place game at Yakima County Stadium, claiming their second state trophy in three years.

Chimacum was going for its second state title in three years, but fell 13-5 to Naches Valley in the semis on Friday. It was sweet revenge for the Rangers, who had lost to Chimacum in the 1A championship game in 2007.
