PREP WRESTLING SUBREGIONALS: East Jefferson boasts four subregional champions

PORT TOWNSEND — The East Jefferson wrestling team got four subdistrict Nisqually League champions this weekend, three boys and one girl.

Winning Nisqually League titles in the meet held at Port Townsend High School were East Jefferson’s Grady White at 138 pounds, Manaseh Lanphear Ramirez at 150 pounds and Rylan Dunn at 157 pounds.

Mi Amada Lanphear Ramirez won the girls subdistrict championship at 120 pounds, which was held in Belfair. She won with a pair of pins, including one coming right at the final whistle in the championship match against Brooklyn Jones of Orting.

White won all of his matches by pin with his win in the championship match coming with a pin late in the third round against Michael Ryland of Vashon.

Manaseh Lanphear Ramirez also won with three straight pins, while Dunn won with a major decision and three straight pins.

As a team, the East Jefferson boys finished fifth, though all five teams at the Nisqually meet tallied a lot of points. East Jefferson had 164 points. Cascade Christian won with 265 points.

Silas Klontz for the Rivals came in second at 175 pounds, splitting a pair of matches.

The Rivals boys picked up a pair of third-place finishes, one from Levi Donahue at 157 pounds and the other by Rylen Kruse at 165. They won three matches each.

Jackson Dupuy at 144 pounds and Roscue Barry at 150 pounds each finished fifth, while Caleb Johnson at 120 pounds, Porter White at 132 and Damien Ilarraza at 165 all finished sixth.

The East Jefferson girls finished 11th with 47 points at a much larger subdistrict meet which included 2A schools. Zinnia Berg at 190 pounds finished fifth, while Lavender Douglas at 115 pounds and Gracee Liske at 115 also earned points for the Rivals.
