PREP VOLLEYBALL: Chimacum spikes Port Townsend

CHIMACUM — The Chimacum volleyball team finished its season in fine fashion.

Backed by an enthusiastic student body, the Cowboys swept rival Port Townsend 25-14, 25-17, 25-13.

“This was a perfect way to finish the season, especially for the three seniors, Olivia Baird, Megan Dukek and Lauren Thacker,” Chimacum coach Sally Dankert said following Wednesday’s game.

Thacker finished with four blocks, nine kills and 10 digs.

Dukek had 18 assists, eight digs, five aces and two kills, and Baird had seven digs, two aces and two kills.

Chimacum, which finishes the season with a 4-11 record, also received contributions from its other players.

Audrey Thacker had 10 digs, five kills, two aces and one block; Kiersten Snyder finished with 13 digs, five kills and two aces; and Alyssa Hamilton had 21 digs and five assists.

Despite the loss, Port Townsend (2-6, 3-11) moves on to the postseason since it finished higher than seventh place in the Olympic League.

The Redskins will host the lowest seed from this weekend’s Nisqually League tournament sometime early next week in a loser-out game for the chance to play in the 1A Tri-District Tournament.

at Life Christian Academy on Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 7-9.
