PREP SOCCER: East Jefferson soccer wins to improve to 3-0 on the season

LANGLEY — The East Jefferson boys soccer team improved to 3-0 with a dominant 4-1 road victory over South Whidbey.

Simon Barlow had a pair of goals, both of them on headers. He got one on a throw-in and the other on a free kick, with Jameson Henery collecting both of those assists.

Alan Morales also had an unassisted goal, his sixth of the year, while Manaseh Lanphear Ramirez also picked up an unassisted goal.

With the three wins in three games, including a come-from-behind 3-2 win over a 2-1 2A Port Angeles team over the weekend, the Rivals are one win away from their total all of last season.

“I’m super pleased, but I’m not surprised with the work and training that they did in the offseason,” with the 3-0 start, said coach Logan Stegner. He also said more of the East Jefferson kids played elite club soccer in the offseason than in past years.

The Rivals (1-0, 3-0) play at Nisqually League rival Seattle Christian on Friday in what Stegner said should be their biggest challenge of the season yet.

“That is going to be a tough test,” he said.
