PREP BASKETBALL: Neah Bay boys, girls roll

NEAH BAY — The Neah Bay boys and girls basketball teams swept Crescent, with both teams riding huge quarters in the first half to cruise to victory.

The Neah Bay girls blew open their game after a low-scoring first quarter with a 37-point second quarter en route to a 75-16 over the Loggers. Meanwhile, the boys got off to a 26-8 lead after the first quarter and went on to beat Crescent 68-46.

Both teams showed a lot of scoring balance. The Neah Bay girls had 10 players score. Allie Greene hit four 3-pointers and led the Red Devils with 22 points. She shot 9 for 14 for the game.

Neah Bay’s Cei’J Gagnon had 11 points, Laila Greene and Ocean Aguirre each scored seven and Jazzlyn Yallup and Paris Horejsi each scored six.

The Red Devils made a total of five turnovers for the entire game.

In that incredible second quarter, Allie Greene hit three 3-pointers and scored 15 points. The Red Devils as a team hit six 3-pointers and shot 15 for 23 from the field in the second quarter.

The Crescent girls were led by Cydne Moore with six points and Hannah Knight with five points.

It was the fourth-straight win for the Red Devil girls. The Neah Bay girls (4-0, 9-5) next play at Crescent (0-4, 2-8) at 5:45 p.m. today.

Boys’ game

The Red Devil boys had six players with six or more points as they built up a lead of 63-33 entering the fourth quarter.

Neah Bay was led by Julian Carrick with three 3-pointers and 19 points. Jaxson Halttunen had a pair of 3-pointers and scored 13 while Tobias Croy had 10 points and Darrin Horejsi had nine points.

Captain Claplanhoo had seven points and seven rebounds, while Desmond Vitalis also had seven rebounds.

Crescent was led by Eric Emery, who hit four 3-pointers and scored 18 point. Brendan Bergstrom had nine points.

Neah Bay (1-3, 4-10) plays Crescent again (3-3, 7-8) at 7:15 p.m. today in Joyce.
