LEFTIES: Port Angeles blasts 5 home runs in win over Kitsap

PORT ANGELES — The Lefties pounded out five home runs, including three from Sean Roby, in blistering the Kitsap Bluejackets 14-7.

Ian Nowak and Benny Kaleiwahea also had home runs. Roby finished with six RBIs in Saturday’s game, while Nowak and Kaleiwahea each had two RBIs.

Austyn Tengan also went 2 for 5 with three runs and a double. Aki Buckson scored two runs on 1 for 2 batting with two walks.

Pitching-wise, Port Angeles native Travis Paynter started, going four innings and giving up one earned run on six hits. Brody Kato, normally one of the Lefties’ catchers, got the win, pitching three innings and giving up two earned runs on three hits. Mitchell Hagan also pitched a scoreless inning with a strikeout.

Kitsap is part of the Pacific International League and so the game and the statistics don’t count toward West Coast League stats and standings.

The Lefties (16-27, 6-10 in the second half) played Kitsap on Sunday after press deadline. They have an off day today, then host Wenatchee at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday. The Lefties have six home games left.
