LEFTIES: Oakley named West Coast League Player of the Week

PORTLAND, Ore. — Port Angeles Lefty Nick Oakley’s spectacular week earned him a West Coast League Moss Adams Player of the Week award.

Oakley belted three home runs this weekend against the Cowlitz Black Bears — a three-run shot Friday night and two solo homers Sunday. For the week, Oakley batted 9-for-23 (.391) with eight RBIs.

For the entire league season, Oakley is hitting .315 (23-for-73) with five home runs and 16 RBIs. He is leading the Lefties in home runs (along with Garrett Lake) and RBIs and on-base plus slugging (.941).

Oakley, who plays shortstop for the Lefties, hit .273 this spring as a freshman for UC-Santa Barbara.

Oakley is the second Lefty this season to win a Moss Adams award. Pitcher Justin Miller won a Pitcher of the Week award for the first week of the season for throwing a six-inning one-hitter against Bellingham.
