PORT ANGELES — Maybe some extended sunshine will help the Port Angeles Lefties’ bats break out of the early season doldrums.
The Bellingham Bells posted a three-hitter Wednesday night, sinking Port Angeles 9-1 to earn a series win in the three-game set.
Lefties starter Justin Miller allowed a leadoff single and a pair of walks to load the bases in the second inning, and Bellingham took advantage, plating three early runs.
Miller was tagged for five runs, four earned in his 3-1/3 innings pitched, walking five and striking out four.
Garrett Lake manufactured Port Angeles’ lone run with an eighth-inning solo home run, his second of the season, to go along with eight RBIs.
Port Angeles (3-8) wrapped with Bellingham (5-6) late Thursday and will host Driveline Baseball, a data-driven baseball performance academy based in Kent, for a three-game series starting tonight at 6:35 p.m.
Driveline Baseball helped refine the skills of Port Angeles alumni Cole Uvila, currently a member of the Texas Rangers’ Double-A Frisco Rough Riders squad.
