GYMNASTICS: Klahhane Bronze sets team record

WOODINVILLE — The Klahhane Xcel Bronze Team set a team record, scoring 114.475 points at the Northshore Invitational held in Woodinville Friday and Saturday.

Lainey DePiro and CarlyMae Riggs led the way with two first-place medals in the senior and child age groups.

DePiro, with a 38.175 all-around score just edged Riggs’ 38.125.

It was a team effort with every member of the team contributing to the overall score in at least one event. Morgan Smith had a 37.475 all-around, Paytynn Lindley scored a 37.375, Raeleigh Thomason a 36.7, Charlotte Neville 36.65 and McKinlee Thomason 36.5.

The team was outstanding in the floor event, scoring 29.225 out of possible 30. The team competes again later this week at the Biggest Little Meet in Mukilteo.

On Sunday morning, the Klahhane Platinum team was led by Scarlett Sullivan, who took first in the uneven bars (9.375) and second in the all-around (36.050) in the child group. Lucy Spelker had a consistent meet, coming in fifth in the junior division with a 34.925 to qualify for the state meet.

Also competing in the child age group were Mariah Traband and Kira Hartman. Traband was seventh on the floor routine (8.950) and Hartman was fifth in the beam (8.865).

In the afternoon gold session, Elyse Brown was fourth (36.326 all-around) in the junior age group. Brown also was fourth on the uneven bars with a 9.3. Harper Hilliker picked up two third-place medals in the vault (8.550) and floor (9.3) in the child age group. Daylen Williams took fifth in the floor exercise in the senior age group. Also competing were Raynee Chiarlo and Gracelyn Goss.

The gold and platinum teams compete next at the Realm Classic in Everett on Saturday and Sunday.
