PROFESSIONAL GOLF MAKES its return to our state for the 13th annual Boeing Classic, a 54-hole Champions Tour event at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge in Snoqualmie from Aug. 25-27.
Before the tournament tees off, related events will run from Monday through Thursday, Aug. 21-24.
This includes the Seahawks’ Rumble at the Ridge on Aug. 21. This tournament features Seattle Seahawks Ring of Honor inductees, NFL Hall of Fame members, plus local and national celebrities playing a round of golf to benefit the Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason, a clinic taking on autoimmune diseases such as type 1 diabetes, multiple sclerosis, Crohn’s disease and rheumatoid arthritis.
A youth golf clinic is planned Tuesday that week and there’s a two day pro-am Wednesday and Thursday.
Volunteers are still needed for the event.
As with other tournaments, volunteers pay a fee, in this case $95, but receive two weekly admission passes, two Cutter and Buck golf shirts and a jacket, a cap or visor, preferred parking, a meal voucher and an invite to the volunteer appreciation party.
A friend of mine from college volunteered at this event last year and had a blast. She made contacts with some folks and recently went down for vacation and a volunteer stint at the celebrity golf tournament at Lake Tahoe.
I also went to the tournament in 2015 and was impressed. Some favorite memories include the Boeing 787 Dreamliner flyover that opens the tournament and watching play while sprawled on the vast, grassy hill overlooking the 18th green and the Snoqualmie Valley and Cascade foothills.
A place where you can enjoy an adult beverage, gorgeous scenery and have a nap in the sun? I’m sold every time.
Day passes are $20 in advance, $25 at the gate and there are also tournament and weekly pass options. Seniors 60 years and older also receive 50 percent off pass prices.

A pair of aces
A pair of North Olympic Peninsula golfers with a knack for finding the bottom of the cup recently carded aces.
Peninsula Golf Club member Dale Doran notched his sixth career hole-in-one July 28 while playing the 109-yard fourth hole. Doran used his 7-iron and a Titleist ball on the shot, which was witnessed by Doug Tissot and Bill Pampell of Sequim and Tom Doran of San Diego.
Over at Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course in Sequim, Anthony Sergi of Sequim marked a one on the 175-yard 17th hole.
It was Sergi’s third career single. He used a 7-iron and a Titleist Pro VIx ball on the shot.
Witnessing the feat were Mason Sergi and Justin Hill of Port Angeles and Scott Aughtry of Sequim.
Way to swing those 7-irons, guys.
Discovery Bay special
A four golfers for the price of two special from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. runs through Sunday at Discovery Bay Golf Course near Port Townsend.
Cart use is not included in the deal. And with the hot weather forecast for the area, I would spring for a cart.
August at Port Ludlow

If not, Port Ludlow has some August-long specials for players.
A round of golf with GPS cart and range balls is $59 for the entire month.
And there’s a super twilight special after 3 p.m. each day. Walkers can play the course for a cool $20, and a round and use of a cart is $29.
