FORKS — Robert King was hired last month as the head football coach and is now conducting spring practices, King confirmed Wednesday.
King, who has been an assistant coach with the team for all but one year since graduating from Forks High School in 1995, has taken over the revolving-door head coaching position.
King was also the high school athletic director last year.
“I’m definitely ready for it,” King said.
“A couple of years ago when the position opened up, I was asked if I would take over the program and I said I wasn’t up for it.
“I’m ready to step up and welcome the challenges of a head coach.”
Bob Enos, an assistant football coach and new Forks High School athletic director, said the school made a number of shifts that changed some positions within the school.
With the switch, King will drop his AD role.
Todd Fraker, the head football coach last year and also the head girls basketball coach, will be an assistant coach to allow him to focus on the girls basketball program.
Enos takes over the AD role with Patty Brandt as well as continuing as an assistant football coach.
