SEQUIM — Port Angeles swept the top individual finishes and the boys and girls team races in a three-team cross country meet Wednesday at Robin Hill County Park.
In the girls race, junior Lauren Larson racked up her third win in as many races in the last week, winning the 3.1-mile race with a time of 19 minutes, 50.31 seconds. Larson won an Olympic League meet last week at Robin Hill and took the top spot at the 42nd annual Salt Creek Invitational last Saturday.
The Roughriders totaled 31 team points to best Sequim (46) and North Kitsap (51).
Port Angeles runners earned seven of the top 13 overall finishes in the girls race.
Senior Kynzie DeLeon was third for the Riders in 22:03.16, Kathryn Guttormsen ended up sixth with a time of 24:39.86 and Jenna McGoff rounded out the top 10 for Port Angeles in 25:02.03.
Gracie Townsend (11th in 25:02.57) and Emma Weaver (12th in 25:03.33) were right behind McGoff with Kaylee Helgeson 13th (25:20.95).
Sequim had three runners earn top-10 finishes. Sophomore Riley Pyeatt came in second (20:46.01), Jessica German was fifth (24:33.39) and Anastasia Updike placed eighth in 24:59.17.
Boys win big
Port Angeles runners claimed four of the top five individual finishes as the Rider boys piled up 19 points to beat North Kitsap (36) and Sequim (79).
Junior Adam Borde won the race with a time of 18:21.96, besting senior teammate Thomas Shaw (18:30.11). Freshman Jack Gladfelter was third in 18:32.86 and sophomore Naaman McGuffey came in fifth (18:44.93).
Sophomore Joshua Gavin was Port Angeles’ other top-10 finisher, he came in eighth in 19:16.94.
The Wolves’ top runner Koda Robinson placed 13th (19:51.27) with junior Eli Gish 14th in 19:59.04. Kaleb Needoba was 16th for Sequim in 20:03.92.
The Riders will race in the Bellevue Invite Saturday at Lake Sammamish State Park.
Sequim will compete in a three-team meet at North Mason on Wednesday.
