BOYS BASKETBALL: Redhawks’ Hill, Kelsall combine for 10 treys in win

PORT TOWNSEND — Port Townsend erupted for 24 points in the fourth quarter and got 10 3-pointers from Detrius Kelsall and Berkley Hill in a 73-56 win over Forks.

The Thursday nonleague game was back-and-0forth until the fourth when the Redhawks outscored the Spartans 24-9.

Kelsall had 25 points and hit six 3-pointers. Hill scored 22 and made four 3-pointers. Kelsall also had eight rebounds and six assists, while Hill had five assists and six steals.

Port Townsend coach Tom Webster said he knew Forks was a very good team heading into the game (the Spartans came into the game with an 8-2 record), so he was happy with the win.

“I thought we’d have to play really well just to hang in there with Forks,” he said.

Webster said he thought the Redhawks’ Kaiden Parcher did a good job defensively on Forks’ 6-foot-9 post player Marky Adams. Adams still finished with 17 points.

Forks coach Rick Gooding said Port Townsend “shot lights out” on the Spartans with the 10 treys from Hill and Kelsall.

“We didn’t defend very well, that’s on me,” Gooding said.

“We came to Port Townsend to play a tough team and get better,” Gooding said.
