BOWLING: Van Gordon third, Penn fourth for Riders at Olympic League Tournament

On to districts Feb. 1

SILVERDALE — The Port Angeles Bowling team qualified for the district tournament by finishing fourth at the Olympic League Tournament.

Zoey Van Gordon’s three-game total of 468 earned her third place at the tournament, while Xoey Penn’s three game 464 earned her a fourth place finish.

Both Van Gordon and Penn bowled above their regular season averages.

“When you can be in that pressure environment and maintain your focus, you’re going to get positive results,” coach Becky Gundersen said of Van Gordon and Penn’s impressive finishes.

Sarah Butterworth, Leilah Franich, Kenadie Ring, Izzy Spencer and Lucy Townsend helped pace the Riders on the day.

The district tournament will be held at Bowlero of Lakewood on Feb. 1.
