BASEBALL: Crosscutters fell Bremerton

SEQUIM — Quilcene’s Andy Johnston tossed a complete game two-hitter and the Olympic Crosscutters continued their undefeated start to the season with an 11-1 win against Bremerton.

The area American Legion team’s win streak reached 12 games in Thursday’s triumph.

“These athletes are gelling together perfectly and are in great midseason form,” Cutters coach John Qualls said.

“The boys are aggressive on the bases, but smart. “They are picking up the fundamental flaws of the pitcher, therefore stealing bases at a high level.

“We have adapted to swinging the wood bat really well at this point.”

The Cutters scored seven runs in the first three innings against Bremerton.

Dane Bradow started things off offensively with a two-run double in the bottom of the first.

Lane Dotson also scored on the play on an error.

A triple by Jake Sparks scored Anthony Bitegeko and put the Cutters up 4-0.

Sparks then scored on an error for a 5-0 lead.

A Lane Dotson double scored Bradow in the third, and Bradow added another double to open the bottom of the fifth inning, later scoring on an error for a

7-1 advantage.

The Cutters are playing Crescent Valley, Oregon in a doubleheader today in Corvallis, Oregon.
