The Roughriders’ Natalie Steinman, coming off a monster year for the Port Angeles girls softball team in 2017 when she was a junior, showed that she doesn’t plan to slow down her senior season.
Steinman, who hit .583 with 11 HRs and drove in 52 runs last season to help lead the Riders to the state 2A championship game, is off to a torrid start after a season-opening doubleheader Saturday against Sedro-Woolley and Anacortes.
Steinman hit two home runs, banged out six hits, scored five runs, collected 11 RBIs and had 13 total bases on the day.
She even came through in the clutch, as a two-run double in the eighth inning helped the Riders win an extra-inning affair against Sedro-Woolley.
Steinman is already Port Angeles’ all-time career home run leader and she is adding to her record total.
