ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Mechelle Nisbet, Chimacum basketball

Mechelle Nisbet has been a scoring machine for Chimacum, helping the Cowboys get off to a 7-5 start this season by averaging 17.3 points a game.

Nisbet is also a model of consistency. Remarkably, she has scored in double figures in all 12 of Chimacum’s games. She has scored over 20 three times, with her high game coming against Port Townsend at 28 points.

In addition to her scoring touch, her coach Trevor Huntingford said she brings a lot of energy and will to the Cowboys.
