ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Logan Urvina, Forks baseball

Forks’ Logan Urvina accomplished a rare feat for a high school pitcher last week. He threw a complete game (five innings) perfect game against Chief Leschi. Urvina not only didn’t allow a baserunner, he struck out 12 of the 15 pitchers he faced.

And it wasn’t a fluke, either. Urvina has been completely dominant this season for the 11-0 Spartans. He is 5-0 on the mound as a starter. He’s pitched 22⅔ innings, allowed 10 hits and 12 walks and struck out 36. He’s only allowed three earned runs all season for an ERA of 0.93. With Logan Olson also on the mound, he is part of a scary one-two punch for the Spartans as they head into postseason.

Urvina has also played for the Wilder Baseball Club during the summers, part of a group of Forks players who have become a big part of Wilder the past few seasons.

Athlete of the Week is sponsored by Swain’s General Store in Port Angeles.
