More and more this season, Lindsay Smith has become the inside “go to” player for the Port Angeles girls basketball team.
The Roughriders started slow this season, but have won four straight and six out of seven thanks in large part to Smith’s contributions. Against Kingston last Tuesday, the 5-foot-11 post player scored 31 points, six offensive rebounds and seven assists in a tough 61-48 win over the Buccaneers.
In another win over North Mason on Friday, Smith helped the Riders avenge a loss from early this season with a 24-point, 10-rebound game in a 58-33 win. She also added four steals. Smith is averaging 27.5 points a game over her past two games.
All of a sudden, the Riders are in a tie for second place in the Olympic League.
Port Angeles has a tough task tonight, taking on first place Bainbridge, then it has a chance to win two games Friday as the Riders play a rare home doubleheader against Olympic.
