ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Detrius Kelsall, Port Townsend basketball

Port Townsend’s Detrius Kelsall has been red-hot for the Redhawks ever since the beginning of the year.

Kelsall’s all-around game on the board, defense and scoring have helped Port Townsend win five in a row, to a 5-0 first-place record in the Olympic League 1A Division and to a 10-3 record overall.

In a win against Klahowya Friday, Kelsall scored 20 with three 3-pointers, nine rebounds and five assists. Against Chimacum on Jan. 10, Kelsall shot 8-for-10 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to help the Redhawks win.

His best game of all? Against Forks Jan. 5, he hit six 3-pointers and scored 25 points.

Kelsall was also a first-team all Olympic League football player as a running back and as a linebacker.
