Cameron Buzzell

Cameron Buzzell

Cameron Buzzell was a huge part of the Neah Bay Red Devils winning the 1B state football championship Saturday against Odessa-Harrington.

With star quarterback Rwehabura Munyagi Jr. nursing a hurt shoulder, Buzzell took over with a spectacular game in the Tacoma Dome.

Buzzell had 168 yards rushing and scored touchdowns on runs of 53, 30 and 63 yards. He also added a 59-yard TD reception, a 32-yard pass and for good measure even had a 92-yard intereception return.

In the 1B semifinal game against Lummi last week, Buzzell also had a spectacular diving 45-yard catch, a touchdown and he made a critical play on defense, causing a fumble at the goal line.

Athlete of the Week is brought to you by the sports department at the Peninsula Daily News along with the sponsorship of Swain’s General Store serving Clallam and Jefferson counties since 1957.
