SEQUIM — Michael “Burch” Burchard aced the par-3 No. 8 hole playing from 100 yards out at The Cedars at Dungeness golf course on Monday, his first career hole-in-one.
Burchard used his pitching wedge on the shot, which bounced once before finding the bottom of the cup.
Summer hoops camp
PORT ANGELES — Registration is underway for the Port Angeles Summer Basketball Camp for boys and girls entering grades three through eight this fall.
The camp will run from July 21-24 with grades three through five attending from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and sixth through eighth from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
It will be held at the Port Angeles High School gym with basketball skills and fundamentals taught by Roughrider high school coaches and players.
The cost is $100 and the registration deadline is July 1.
All players will receive a camp T-shirt.

Halberg honored
RENTON — Port Angeles senior goalkeeper Gus Halberg has been recognized as a WIAA Athlete of the Week for Week 35 by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association.
In his first year playing high school soccer, Halberg led Port Angeles to a dramatic district playoff win. After making the only save in a 10-round penalty shootout against Olympic, he stepped up and scored the game-winning kick, his first-ever attempt.
Halberg has notched seven shutouts this season.
Zombie Mud Run
PORT ANGELES — The Pirate Zombie Mud Run, a family-friendly obstacle course that challenges speed, strength and strategy — all while being chased by the undead — is set for Saturday.
Participants will launch in teams of four to eight every few minutes on a 2-mile course weaving through campus.
Prices are $40/$15/$75.
