Little League umpire training slated Feb. 22

PORT ORCHARD — An umpire training session for youth baseball/softball will be hosted by Washington District 2 Little League on Feb. 22.

Washington District 2 Little League serves youth in Kitsap, Pierce, Mason, Jefferson and Clallam counties.

The training will be held at The Family Worship Center, 4647 Sidney Road, Port Orchard.

Doors open at 8 a.m. with coffee provided, and the training will go until about 5 p.m.

Umpires should bring their mask, balls and strikes indicator and notetaking materials.

Bowling benefit

PORT ANGELES — An upcoming benefit bowling doubles tournament will raise funds for Anthony Jagodzonski, a Port Angeles teen and bowling enthusiast injured in a Christmas Day traffic collision.

Jagodzonski is a league bowler at Laurel Lanes.

The tournament is set for 11 a.m. March 2 at Laurel Lanes.

Entry fees are $100 per doubles team and all will be donated to Jagodzonski.

Area businesses are encouraged to donate merchandise or services to serve as prizes.

Registration ends Sunday

Registration for the 2025 Sequim Little League season is available at sequimlittleleague.com through Sunday.

The league offers youth T-Ball, baseball and softball options for ages 4-16, including a new hybrid coach/player pitch softball league for 7- and 8-year-olds.

The cost is $120 per player.

Grants and fee assistance are available.

Coaches and volunteers also should sign up during registration.

Coaches’ clinic Feb. 22

PORT ANGELES — A free baseball coaches clinic led by Derek Jennings of New Level 360 will be hosted by the North Olympic Baseball and Softball Barn, 260 Easy St., on Feb. 22.

Jennings coached the South Hill Puyallup squad to the Little League World Series in 2024.

He will offer techniques and strategies to get the most out of youth players.

Little League funds

Applications for the T-Mobile Little League Call Up Grant, a program that provides funds for families in need with registration fees, will be accepted through Wednesday.

Due to demand, each day the application will open at 10 a.m. and close when the daily limit of 650 applications has been reached.

Baseball, softball clinics

PORT HADLOCK — Free baseball and softball clinics for those with one year or less experience playing the sport are set for mid-February.

The clinics will be held at the East Jefferson Little League fields, 80 Elkins Road.

The free softball clinic is for players ages 8-10 and will run from noon to 3 p.m. Feb. 15.

The baseball clinic is for ages 6-8 and will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Feb. 16.
