PA’s Madison to be inducted in college HOF
PORTLAND, Ore.— Concordia University Interim Director of Athletics Lauren Eads has announced that Port Angeles High graduate Mike Madison will be one of four inductees into the Concordia University Department of Athletics Hall of Fame.
Madison graduated from Concordia in 1981 and is the senior development officer for the school’s foundation office.
Madison played a major role in the Cavaliers’ transition from the National Christian College Athletic Association into the NAIA during his senior season in 1980-81.
Madison still ranks in the top ten in several Concordia Cavalier men’s basketball career categories as well as being in the top ten in numerous single-season categories. He is third in field goal percentage (.612), seventh in scoring average (18.1 ppg) and tenth in free throw percentage (.811) in career stats at Concordia. During his two-year career, Madison scored 1125 points in 62 games while he was the team most valuable player both seasons.
Madison was a National Christian College All-American during his junior season and led the Cavaliers into the postseason in their first year as a NAIA member in 1980. After graduating from Concordia, Madison was the head boys’ varsity basketball coach at Shoreline Christian High School for several years.
Wolves fall to NK
SEQUIM — Sequim was edged 4-3 by North Kitsap in a home boys tennis match on Monday. The Wolves’ No. 2 doubles team of Damon Little and Tim Porter were named Players of the Match by Sequim coach Mark Textor for their efforts in a 6-4, 6-2 victory.

‘Spooktacular’ 5K
GARDINER — Jefferson County Parks &Recreation hosts Spooktacular 3, a 5k run/walk held at Troll Haven/Bandy Farms (950 Gardiner Beach Road) on Saturday, Oct. 14.
Day-of-race registration time is 9 a.m., followed by a costume contest at 10 a.m. and the run/walk at 11 a.m.
Cost is $25, $15 for participants 18 and younger. T-shirts are included in the entry fee, but shirts will be guaranteed on race day for only those who register by Oct. 1.

Bellevue ban lifted
The Bellevue High School football team can make a return trip to the playoffs this year with the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association voting to lift the team’s two-year postseason ban, the state’s governing body announced.
The Wolverines were barred from reaching the postseason last year because of WIAA sanctions regarding the program’s recruiting and out-of-season coaching.
But there’s a cost: Bellevue will vacate its wins from 2012-14 – and pay a $2,500 fine.
